Huntsville, AL
Working with the architect and the First Presbyterian Church of Huntsville, Bostick Landscape Architects (BLA) helped create and plan a layout for a living garden and memorial garden with a columbarium.
A designed wall separates the two gardens. There is a fountain and seating area with a simple water feature in the living garden. BLA drew inspiration for the water feature from the scripture, “but whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never thirst.” The living garden is full of perennials and blooming flowers with more open areas for greenery.
The memorial garden and columbarium would provide places on internment for ashes throughout the garden in the walls. The smaller planted areas are more reserved in planting for areas of internment directly into the garden. BLA envisions the seating in this area for quiet reflection.
