Huntsville, AL
The City of Huntsville repurposed the Berachah gym into a new public library and allocated the surrounding land as a new park for North Huntsville. Bostick Landscape Architects (BLA) modernized the North Huntsville library to create an inviting entry from the road with plant material accentuating the building's architecture.
The remaining grounds, once a police training facility, are currently being transformed into a city park full of amenities. The park boasts three pickleball courts, calisthenic workout equipment, a large playground, a multi-use sports field, a community garden area, large covered plazas for rental, and several picnic stations covered with shade sails. The park will be full of large shade trees to provide cooling on the 1.5-mile outer walkway. The City and BLA anticipate the park to be completed in early 2021.
