Huntsville, AL
Situated in downtown Huntsville, this Huntsville Housing Project received a facelift to modernize the building's façade. Bostick Landscape Architects updated the landscape to match. Tree locations draw off the new façade. New Dawn Redwood street trees compliment and match some existing City trees right around the corner, tying the building into the city's larger context. New plantings providing blooms and interest help the residents feel a sense of pride in their home.
The existing patio is situated under a large pecan tree providing shade for the residents. BLA removed several Leyland Cypress trees that previously created a screen to the outside and planted new shade trees to define the apartment's common lawn area. These changes allowed the residents to become part of the community rather than being separated from it.
